CFO : re-establishing the business for disposal

Chief Finance Officer: re-establishing the business for disposal.

Our client was an international conglomerate. They had a specific focus on distribution and supply into the construction sector. Their exceptional entrepreneurial founder diversified the business into a broad range of unrelated business areas. This diversity eventually lead the company’s lenders to foreclose on the organisation, due to liquidity issues.

An external management team was appointed to secure the business through its liquidation and ready its supply chain business unit, for disposal.  PSD Partners was asked to source a chief finance officer: re-establishing the business for disposal.

The organisation refocused on its four core businesses. Each business held a leading or significant position within their respective sectors or markets.

It wasn’t about square pegs for square holes. This was a business, one of the largest of its kind in Europe, which was very successful, but under performing, with huge potential and some great people. It lacked a strong financial leadership”

This business unit focused on manufacturing and supply chain excellence. Sourcing a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the division, who understood these broader issues, was critical to success. Therefore PSD Partners was asked to focus on sourcing a chief finance officer to re-establishing the business for disposal. This was successfully achieved.

The business was managed back to a position that it was attractive to a new owner to purchases. The Chief Finance Officer, played a major role in this successful disposal.
